This was the second Clio Sport Owners Club weekender I have been to and they're good fun. A place where a bunch of like minded people get together, eat some food, drink some drink, and chat about cars and other things. It's held at Blyton Park in Lincolnshire and consists of camping on the Saturday, followed by a track day and "Show and Shine" competition. Tom and myself arrived Saturday evening and set up our tents before grabbing a beer and heading around to see people and ogle at cars. I didn't realise that I hadn't clipped the vent cover onto my tent. Mistakes were made.
The rain started, but it didn't dampen the atmosphere. Spirits were high and a great time was had by all. Meets like this are interesting as they bring together people from many walks of life - who may otherwise never meet - joined by a common passion. From shipping organisers, to software engineers, to plumbers, to retirees. All here because of their interest in these small French cars.
There's always a lovely selection of cars brought along and this year was no exception. More Mk4's were brought along than ever before, including a nice trio in glorious Liquid Yellow paint. A white Trophy 220 with freshly coated red wheels and subtle red highlighting topped the collection off.
There were some impressively tidy Mk2's about, and a scattering of boosted engines in every generation of Clio.
Returning to my tent for the night I was greeted by a nice puddle and some soaked clothes. Nice.
After a wet nights sleep and watching an hour of the track day on Sunday morning, we headed off as I had some work to do to my car before next weeks road trip. It wasn't long, but it was a good time.
See you next year.
